Road safety is one issue that needs special attention as there’s one death reported every 4 minutes on the streets of India. India holds the highest number of deaths due to road accidents.
Nearly 5 lakh road accidents were reported in 2013 in which more than 1 lakh people lost their lives. A large chunk of the victims were aged between 30 and 44 years.
The crucial time between the accident and getting the victim medical attention can often be the difference between life and death. Unfortunately not many value that precious time. Pointing fingers at others would do no good. You can’t blame Yamraj ( God of Death ) later either.Responsibility on the road is not just towards one’s own self but also to the other motorists and pedestrians.
Here are some ways we can save our lives and of those around us
Not everyone gets a replacement like Lord Ganesha. You can save your life by taking simple steps. Injuries can be healed but once dead , there’s no coming back. Do not put on Helmet when you see Police or Fine .Wear it because you love your family.
2- Phone a friend can end your life
No call is as important as the call of Death. Everything else can wait. You think you are great with texting while driving but You are not.
3- Look Left and Right or Die Tonight
You are in a hurry . You can’t afford to leave the way for a dying man in ambulance. I can understand how important it is for you to attend a friend’s birthday party. Assholes
Look around before you gear up.
4- Zebra Crossings were not made for Zebras
Cross the road on Zebra Crossings and save yourself from all the DRAMA.. Zebra crossings should be marked on the road so that drivers can be alert of pedestrians crossing or waiting to cross a road.
5- Look for Death Holes
This one applies only to Indian Drivers. You know what I mean. We have a slight disadvantage on almost all the things.
6- Do not listen to your Wife when you Drive
7- Bikers – Tis is not your Playground
Youngsters should not be much involved in the dangerous stunts which are shown on the television/movies.
8- Learn Traffic Signs
Do not land over the Delhi Roads before learning the traffic signs , the moment you enter , you are no more a Driver but a WARRIOR
9- Maintain Speed Limits
10 – Follow Rules
Awareness of safety should be taught to the children. Road safety program should be organized in every schools and colleges every year.
When all these steps are followed by every individual, the chances of accident or injuries are reduced.
